Terrorists Threaten DJ Tiësto [news]

After pop star Shakira, who had dropped off her planned Beirut date for her "Oral Fixation" tour this summer, now Dutch trance DJ Tiësto could be another one to cancel his scheduled Beirut appearance.

According to the Lebanese website Ya Libnan rumors have emerged that Fatah al-Islam terrorist cell has directly threatened to kill Tiësto if he dares to show up for his planned July 2 concert performance in Beirut.

The site also reports that on October 1, 2005, Tiesto broke records when over 16,000 people showed up to party with their beloved Tiësto at his long awaited debut in Beirut. The event, which took place at Forum de Beirut, has been coined the largest event ever in the Middle East.

As much as we are tempted to laugh about this, that's just horrible. Lebanese people just want to go out, have fun, dance and listen to music. What's wrong with that?

Paul Van Dyk, Pussycat Dolls Record Song

German DJ/producer Paul van Dyk is putting the finishing touches on his new studio album, "In Between," due Aug. 14 from Mute. Sources say the album may feature collaborations with Talking Heads' David Byrne and a member of the Pussycat Dolls on at least one track.

Van Dyk's last artist album, 2003's "Reflections," debuted at No. 3 on Billboard's Top Electronic Albums chart. It spawned the club hits "Crush" and "Time of Our Lives." Van Dyk will be on tour throughout the summer, including an Aug. 17-18 stand in New York's Central Park.

Meanwhile, Billboard has learned that British duo Basement Jaxx recently spent a couple of weeks in New York, laying down tracks for a new album. Tracks laid down so far recall the pair's early Latin-flavored jams, and will feature guest appearances from Yoko Ono, Lil' Louis and Kudu, among others.


The as-yet-untitled new XL project is the follow-up to last year's "Crazy Itch Radio," which opened at No. 4 on Top Electronic Albums. Basement Jaxx has a handful of shows on tap for the summer, primarily at major European festivals.

Benjamin Bates Released New Dance4Life Anthem 2007

Benjamin Bates, the Dance4Life Netherlands Ambassador, released a new Dance4Life anthem 2007 called "On My Feet". He played it during Sensation White in Antwerp, and the crowd loved it! It's released on 28 April. The money raised from sales of the track will go to Dance4Life.
The track is bound to be a summer hit, not only because it is a brilliant number, but also because it's all for a good cause!

Tiesto Plans Restaurant Launch [news]

Dance music phenomenon Tiesto is set to open a restaurant in his native Netherlands.
The Suburban Train hitmaker, real name Tijs Verwest, will launch Asian fusion diner and club Cineac next month (Jun07), in what was an old cinema on Amsterdam's Rembrandt Square.
And some of the signature dishes will named after Tiesto hits like Flight 643 and Traffic.
He says, "My chef is really creative. He's no big name or anything, but I really like him. He's currently creating an Adagio For Strings (Tiesto hit) soup, or something like that."I've always been a big fan of food and if I wasn't a Dj now I'd be a chef. I love cooking."
