Born (in 1984) and raised in Montbéard, in Northern East of France, Dan started to get interested in EDM in 1998, listening to the weekly Essential Mixes from BBC Radio1, and more specifically in Trance, listening to the daily mixes he heard on Couleur 3 (Switzerland radio), at the Trance Escape show and live broadcasts from Trance events around the world. In 1999, he bought his first CDs, releases of Ferry Corsten's project, Gouryella. In 2002, he began to mix with a pair of decks and a mixer (the story starts here). He joined the team of 99.2 FM, France Northern East local radio, in 2003, as a sound technician for a weekly music program. 6 months later, he got his own show every Saturday in the late afternoon, spreading House, commercial and Underground Trance music imported from Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands and collaborating with local disc store and clubs. In 2007, and 130 episodes later, he created a new show, Trance Spirit, broadcasting the best of Trance and Progressive music. His favorite motto : "Trance is not just a kind of music, it's a lifestyle."
The combination of a DJ with ten years experience (Ernesto van der Meij) and a equally experienced producer (Edwin Koelewijn) resulted in 2001 in the Dutch duo Ernesto vs. Bastian.
Their style is trance and progressive and even a bit of pop.
Their sound is influenced by everyone from Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and the Pet Shop Boys to early 80s soul, disco and funk.
They host their own weekly show at DBS Radio. Every Friday Night Ernesto vs Bastian brings your weekend to "The Next Level".
The weekly Trance Nation Podcast is John's gift to the trance community. "Producing and mixing this podcast consumes the greater amount of my time during any given week. But it's for the love of the music and for the joy of trance addicts and trance enthusiasts around the world that I do this show. It's not meant to be a top 10 countdown of the newest tracks that every other trance DJ in the world is playing at the moment. It's about those tracks old or new which inspire and move me and I hope will move the listener as well." The Trance Nation Podcast has since become one of the highest podcasts on the Apple iTunes Store with downloads from 100+ countries every month!
"Trance is my life, I live it and breathe it. I have my own view and my own take on the trance mix and I'm just pleased that I have the opportunity to share it with the ever-growing trance community worldwide. I am spreading the trance sound and flying the trance flag at every opportunity."

A record number of dance music fans descended on the city of Amsterdam for the twelfth edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event that broke all records. From 18th - 20th October Amsterdam became the ‘Capital of Dance’, attracting 72,000 clubbers to the 3 day night programme and 1,800 key industry professionals to the sold out conference. There were also over 700 DJ’s and acts performing at 34 of Amsterdam’s finest venues and it was hard to know where to start and what to see first!
When arriving in Amsterdam from Schiphol airport on a big double-decker train, it was easy to slip into the relaxed rhythm of the city. A quick hop on the tram to our hotel for a for a quick freshen up and we were ready for action. The conference itself, is located in the historic Felix Meritis building, next to one of the many picturesque canals. Friendly staff were there to greet everyone as they registered and present the event guide, goodie bag and the all important wristband that gets you into all the clubs. Loose this at your peril as it’s your gateway to seeing the best DJ’s the electronic music scene has to offer. On exploring the 3 floors of the building, every room was buzzing with activity and it was hard to walk anywhere without bumping into someone you knew. “People in the industry see it more and more as essential to be here and the event has found its own dynamic and is growing every year.” Enthused ADE General Manager Richard Zijlma. The price for the most expensive turntable in the world starts at $90,000 and goes up to $112,000, depending on finishes and includes some amazing technology. The tonearm alone sells for $12,000. The turntable uses a magnetically levitated magnesium platter suspended in a vacuum to assure there are no vibrations. Vinyl is alive and kicking because the most passionate and wealthy audiophiles know that CD's or mp3's sound can't touch anything on the most expensive turntable.

Four People Shot Dead During Carl Cox DJ Set [news]
Four people were shot dead and nine injured by a gunman during a Carl Cox DJ set in Caracas, Venezuela on Saturday (November 3).
Cox was headlining the Red Noise event at the La Rinconada Terrace venue when, ten minutes into his set, a gunman opened fire in the audience.
Police are yet to release details of the shooting, but the incident is thought to be gang-related. Video footage of the shooting has begun circulating the internet.
Cox released a statement, which reads: "I am deeply shocked and still stunned by the events of this Saturday. My condolences go out to victims that were caught up in this horrific act. I am informed that it was gang-related, and feel so sad that anybody would act in such a manner when the event was full of 7000 people having fun."
Finally the wait is over; “Better Late Than Never” is now available to download on iTunes with other digital portals to follow, and a CD release in early 2008.
In October 1997, Lange signed his first ever record deal with Positiva records. Now a decade on, 2007 sees the leading trance producer finally release his highly anticipated debut album ... “Better Late Than Never”.
The perhaps appropriately named album draws on influences from across the electronic music spectrum including more traditional trance productions such as his last hit single ‘Angel Falls’ and the emotive ‘Red October’, but it also shows Lange’s broader production skills; taking in influences from techno and electro on ‘Dial Me Up’, ‘Wind Farm’, and the stunning new vocal single ‘Songless’, and even indie rock on the brilliant ‘Out of the sky’.
As Lange puts it himself, “For me personally the walls have come down, and genres are blending more than ever before….The album features a lot of club orientated tracks, but was very much written to be listened to as a complete work at home” Read on >>>

Dancefloor Sessions - Mixed By Blake Jarrell [news]
Aged just 23, Blake Jarrell has had a rollercoaster of a ride to date. Tipped by John Digweed as “definitely someone to look out for in the future," Blake carved himself a niche in the underground dance music scene in his hometown of New Orleans. At 16, he started to DJ and became a resident at local clubs like Ampersand, 735, and the House of Blues where he crafted his progressive house sound. Not satisfied with only DJing, Blake soon began to produce, releasing singles and remixes on various progressive labels co-produced with the late Adam "Starkid" Spears.
But in August 2005, disaster struck – Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on New Orleans, turning Blake’s life upside down. Packing his car with whatever he could, Blake wound up in Chicago where he fell in love with the booming house, techno and trance scene, which further helped shape his sound. It also brought a chance meeting with Armin van Buuren, who Blake passed along a CD of his productions. "It's bittersweet that I had to lose my hometown to Hurricane Katrina to find such a musically nurturing city as Chicago," says Blake who claims the storm as "simultaneously the best and worst thing that has ever happened to me." Scopolamine: Scopolamine is a colorless, tasteless, odorless drug. It is also known as hyoscine and is classified as a tropane alkaloid. The drug can be obtained from plants in the Solanacea (nightshade) family. Most scopolamine comes from jimsome weed, or as in Columbia, borrachero trees. The plants it can be derived from are many, and abundantly available. This makes its use widespread, and exceedingly dangerous. It is, surprisingly, one of the most feared substances in what is arguably the drug capital of the world, Columbia. - Click here -
