The not particularly dance music-savvy Billboard.com has named Dutch trance mega-star Tiesto the highlight of 2007, along with “the return of house music.”
With no mention of the Daft Punk pyramid spectacular, Billboard instead singled out Tiesto’s Elements Of Life world tour.
“Tiesto’s spectacular tour featured sky-high video screens, pyrotechnics and trippy appearances by Blue Man Group,” enthused the US media outlet. “With a lighter-hoisting rock scope and a ‘concert-style’ set programmed to match the visual onslaught, the tour blazed a new trail for DJ performance.”
Their assertion is backed up by Robbins Entertainment VP John Parker. “Tiesto had the most heat [in 2007]. The big story was his tour and all the people talking about it for weeks after he left their city.”
The other highpoint of 2007, according to Billboard, was house music’s triumphant return.
“House tracks laced with vocals are making a smashing comeback, getting airplay and creating quite a buzz,” says Jessica Risling-Sholl, director of marketing at American house imprint Ultra Records. Well, to be fair, she wouldn’t say otherwise, would she?
The names Billboard trots out as spearheading this “smashing comeback” include the not-exactly-green Bob Sinclar, Kaskade and Roger Sanchez.
The final excitable word, though, is reserved for DJ-slash-hair model David Guetta.
“Guetta’s recent stop at tiny New York club Cielo was a shocking spectacle: The well-heeled crowd – out on Thanksgiving night, no less – pawed at the lanky DJ like he was Elvis reincarnated, climbing banquettes to snap his photo, gazing at him with the kind of devotion usually reserved for teen idols.”

It’s not often that two people discover a friendship as special as the Berlin-based creative duo M.A.N.D.Y. (Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung). The artists are set to release the next Fabric installment in January 2008.
Individually, Philipp kept busy shirking his keyboard lessons and borrowing his friend’s drum kit, while Patrick delved deeply into art and painting. When some older friends filled their stereos with Chicago mixtapes and the sounds of early acid house in the late 80’s, their lifelong obsessive love with electronica began.
With the release of the first Get Physical compilation in 2004, M.A.N.D.Y. set the bar high for house and techno lovers alike; similarly, still to this day, three years after its explosive release, M.A.N.D.Y. and Booka Shade’s ‘Body Language’ lingers as a standard tool stashed and cherished in DJs’ record boxes everywhere. It’s no wonder that M.A.N.D.Y. remain two of the world’s most desired DJs and, likewise, no great surprise that fabric 38 is such a dazzling, impeccable work of art. Throughout the 25 tracks, M.A.N.D.Y. tenderly tells a story that swells between moments of poetic ache and voracious hunger. Spanned on by deep, ethereal techno, glitchy staccato and bass-heavy machine funk, the tracks sparkle alongside eachother with brilliant elegance, breeding standout moments from Gui Boratto, Lucio Aquilina, Audion and the cream of the Get Physical crop. A thrilling portrayal of M.A.N.D.Y.’s sound, the effervescent mix moves in directions most unexpected, and grooves in ways previously unimagined.
"On one CD, it’s hard to capture everything you want to do within a certain amount of minutes. We try to always be – well, not to be minimal, of course not, because that’s not us, but – we try to be subtle. We like to pick tracks that can exist for themselves, but which make a really nice flow for the whole mix. And you don’t want to overdo it and only play the hits or too much melody…a mix should gently take you by the hand and say 'hey, this is our interpretation of the actual sound' - bit of the old stuff, bit of the new stuff. It shouldn’t overload you but still it should make you move your butt." – M.A.N.D.Y.

Fans of the French superstar dance DJ David Guetta and the American crime TV show CSI: Miami could be in for a double treat, as we've heard that David may be appearing on CSI.
Perhaps he has forensic investigation skills we didn't know about?
Guetta's single Love Is Gone was one of the monster smashes of 2007, and his new single, Baby When The Light looks set to be a worldwide hit too. Actually its no surprise that he's getting involved in CSI: Miami, as contempory music has always featured prominently in the show.
Previous dance music supremos who have provided soundtracks for the Miami crime-busters include the mighty Paul Oakenfold and the hugely influential Chemical Brothers.
So if you see David wearing a surgical mask, white coat and disposable latex gloves at his next gig, you'll know he's getting into his new role!

The German trance duo DuMonde (Jam X & De Leon) announced that they've decided to split apart, ahead of their album release DuMonde: A Decade. Read on for the full press statement, published on their myspace page:
In what is a sad moment for us, we have decided to call an end to DuMonde. We could quote artistic differences, different directions, solo productions but we will spare you all the clichés.
We spent ten years at the top with DuMonde. With the Album a Decade we captured and highlighted a chapter in our joint career and have decided to make it a closure point for us .We feel that this makes a natural break, drawing a line under the success we achieved as one of the most respected trance acts on the scene. Gun due for release this month will be our final joint production as DuMonde, a track that is a strong and fitting end to a great ten years …
For 2008, both JamX and De Leon have a number of individual projects lined up. Some of the new solo works will embrace the feel of what has been done in the past while others will be moving in completely new and fresh directions.
We would like to thank all of you who supported us over the last ten years our loyal fans, the DJs and producers we worked with and now we are going to go into clichés, friends, family etc, but seriously to all of you, thanks we couldn’t have done it without you.
We hope you will enjoy the future with us as we embark on our solo projects and look forward to your continued support.
Juergen (JamX) and Dominik ( De Leon )

In the beginning there was Jack, and Jack had a groove. And from this groove came the groove of all grooves.
And while one day visciously throwing down on his box, Jack boldly declared: "Let there be house!" And housemusic was born.
I am you see, I am the creator, and this is my house, and in my house there is only housemusic. But I am not so selfish, because once you're into my house it then becomes our house and our housemusic. And you see, no one man owns house, because housemusic is a universal language spoken and understood by all. You see, house is a feeling, that no one can understand really, unless you're deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrolable desire to jack your body. And as I told you before: This is our house and our housemusic. In every house, you understand, is a keeper and in this house the keeper is Jack. Now, if some of you might wonder "Who is Jack and what is it that Jack does?" Jack is the one that gives you the power to jack your body. Jack is the one who gives you the power to do the snake. Jack is the one who gives you the key to the wiggly worm. Jack is the one who learns you how to walk your body. Jack is the one that can bring nations and nations of jackers together under one house. You may be black, you may be white, you may be Jew or Gentile... It dont make a differance in our house. And this is fresh. Read on >>>
