Over a year in its creation & representing the first music from Solarstone as a solo artist, ‘Rain Stars Eternal’ is the new ‘year one’ for founder member and driving force, Rich Mowatt.
Through tracks like ‘Solarcoaster’, ‘Speak in Sympathy’, ‘The Calling’ & the Tiësto caned ‘Like a Waterfall’, Rich has delivered 10 straight years of club smashes. His Top 40 hit ‘Seven Cities’ has sound-tracked tens of thousands of Balearic holidays and was rated as the best trance record of the last 10 years by DJ Magazine. Throughout that period Solarstone has torn through the production ranks, becoming infinitely synonymous with trance and succeeded in releasing nothing but the highest quality dance music.
This new album - the follow-up to 2006’s retrospective ‘Anthology One’ - starts to significantly push at the borders of the Trance genre, into Progressive & Chillout and further beyond. Read on >>>

Two gigantic concrete circles stand opposite one another cleft in a mountain of stone blocks. In between, a long, 45-degree steep stairway leads upwards. At the end of the long stairway, the mystery of a beautiful Dutch sky and a beautiful panorama await. More than ever before, this remarkable work of art in the surrealistic landscape of Spaarnwoude symbolises the heart of Dance Valley 2008. On July 12th, at 10 AM, the gates will open for the fourteenth edition, and everyone is welcome to take ‘A Journey Into Sound’. UDC: “We’ve deliberately chosen not to play it safe with a flyer full of well-known names. About half of the artists performing have never turned tables at Dance Valley before, and we have added many new and unknown areas. Nonetheless, artists such as Ferry Corsten, Cosmic Gate, John Digweed, Judge Jules, Tom Harding, Jean, Danny Howells, etc. mean that there will be enough big names in the line-up.” Read on >>>

As unconventional as the way he wears his hair, as cutting edge as his music and always pushing the boundaries with his productions, the DJ formerly known as Yoji Biomehanika has vanished.
In the wee hours of a mid January 2008 evening, Yoji Biomehanika unsuspectingly went to sleep and woke up the next morning without a last name.
Yoji's management DJlinks.com has made no official comment on the investigation but is working closely with local Japanese and international authorities.
The facts are unclear at the moment as to what happened to his last name, but the online rumour mills are running rampant. Some say it was stolen, others say it was kidnapped, no foul play is suspected at this point, but only 'Yoji' will undeniably know the real truth behind the mysterious disappearance of 'Biomehanika'. But he has vowed to go on with or without it.

The illustrious Rank 1 are nominated in the category ‘Best Trance Artist’ for the first ever Beatport Music Awards. The Beatport Music Awards is set up by the worlds leading download portal for dance music, Beatport.com.
As stated from Beatport’s press announcement:
Denver, CO (March 5th 2008) Beatport.com will honour the best artists and producers in electronic music with a new annual user poll called the Beatport Music Awards. Launching today, the awards poll aims to recognize the producers behind the music, rather than the DJs who play it, by giving music fans, DJs and clubbers the chance to vote for their favourite artists, tracks and remixes.
Based on 2007 unit sales at Beatport.com, the Beatport Music Awards have been split into 19 categories. There are 16 categories broken down by music genre with the top 10 selling artists on Beatport from each genre making up the shortlists that music fans will vote on. Two further categories – Best Remix and Best Single – will also be decided by music fans who will choose from a shortlist of the top 10 sellers of 2007. A final open category asks music fans to name the most influential, forward-thinking and relevant person in electronic music.
“Rather than run another open popularity contest we wanted to create a secure poll that was relevant to the global electronic music community,” said Jonas Tempel, Beatport’s CEO. “Unit sales is a great way to gauge who is popular and we decided to split the awards into separate music genres so that artists that are relevant to their scene still get recognized. Techno fans will have their champion, as will drum & bass, dubstep and trance fans.”
Voting starts march 18 and runs till April 22nd. The Beatport Music Awards has 19 categories altogether. For the full list of nominees click here!

For their first compilation of 2008, Global Underground welcomes to the helm one of electronic music’s most audacious auteurs, Felix Da Housecat; and with the 2 CD mix centred on Felix’s love affair with Europe’s fashion capital, Milan, you know you’re in for something uniquely special – music with both style and substance.
A groundbreaking visionary whose unrelenting contribution to electronic music has spanned the past 20 years, Felix is currently baiting daytime UK airwaves with his latest single, ‘Radio’. Already a ‘Hottest Record In The World’ for Radio 1’s Zane Lowe and a staple in the shows of Pete Tong, Rob Da Bank, and many more, ‘Radio’ is lifted from his recent artist album, ‘Virgo Blaktro & The Movie Disco’, an impressive long-player that has further enhanced his pedigree.
Two-time Grammy-nominated Felix has long maintained a presence beyond the prism of dance music – his collaborations cross the spectrum between P.Diddy and LCD’s James Murphy; critics and bloggers alike have cited him as a worthy heir apparent to the greats of modern black music, recognising that his contributions have followed in the lineage begun by figures such as Sly & The Family Stone, Parliament, and Prince.
Following on from 2001’s ‘Kittenz And Thee Glitz’ (the album that unwittingly spawned electroclash and the worldwide crossover club hit ‘Silver Screen’), and 2004’s ‘Devin Dazzle & The Neon Fever’, ‘Virgo Blaktro…’ tapped into his roots, but equally took him off into new directions, making him as relevant as ever for a 21st century dancefloor.
Inspired by one of the world’s most beautiful cities, ‘Milan’ reaffirms Felix Da Housecat as part of a special breed of DJ. A stunning addition to the finest DJ mix series on the planet, this is over 2 hours worth of music that deserves pride of place on your player.
In a typically Geordie coup, ‘Milan’ has the Shinichi Osawa remix of Felix’s ‘Radio’, other audio highlights include Chip E ‘It's House, Josh Wink ‘Thick As Thieves‘, Thomas Bangalter ‘Outrage’, Armando ‘151’, Dubfire ‘Emissions’, Boys Noize ‘Shine Shine’, Felix Da Housecat Vs. Diddy ‘Jack U (Angelo & Ingrosso Remix), Model 500 ‘No UFOs’, Kris Menace Feat Fred Falke ‘Fairlight’.
Felix da Housecat: GU34 Milan is released 12th May.

‘Above & Beyond Anjunabeats 100’ is the culmination of the first vinyl century of one of the UK’s most successful independent dance labels and the country’s biggest trance label. Three DJs and thousands of meticulous and painstaking A&R man-hours have brought Above & Beyond’s brainchild Anjunabeats to the threshold of this 100th release compilation and bonus DVD.
Over the last eight years Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki have cultivated Anjunabeats from its backroom beginnings to worldwide dance recognition, and its discography has engaged the playlists of pretty much every EDM DJ out there. Central to that success has been the forging of the oft-noted ‘Anjunabeats sound’ (dictionary definition – “Fluffy trance”). This has it has rendered their releases instantly identifiable as ‘an Anjuna track’ to music lovers and diehard clubbers alike.
Here in 2008 Above & Beyond themselves need very little introduction. Two top 20 hits (including one under their OceanLab alias) and a top-selling, critically-acclaimed in most quarters debut album in the form of ‘Tri-State’ have firmly established them (to quote Pete Tong) as “the UK’s new dance superstars”. In addition to that they’ve remixed some of the world’s most influential artists (including Madonna and Dido) and regularly DJ to stadium-sized audiences, most recently performing to an audience of 1 million on Barra Beach in Rio on New Year’s Eve. In that process they have propelled themselves up the DJ rankings, breaking into the world’s Top 10 in 2006 and taking them within touching distance of the coveted No.1 position. Read on >>>

“The new album is a bit more grown up than the first album. We've worked with some of our contemporaries who we massively respect and that's had an effect” Wim Plug
“We were really pleased when Sander Kleinenberg licensed an upfront version of one of our new album tracks for his Renaissance compilation. That wouldn't have happened with our first album” Mark Kneppers
Heineken, Van Gogh, Kraak & Smaak. The three most famous things to come out of Holland. Ever. In that order. Ok so maybe a bit of an exaggeration but the last three years have been an incredible ride for the band considered to be Holland's most credible export and as they gear up for the release of their second album things seem set to get even crazier. Junkie XL, the world renowned producer, is back with a bang. His new album 'Booming Back At You' will be unleashed upon the world on 10th March.
With his new album he's going back to the dance-floors as it will be much more electronic and will feature danceable tracks. Tom Holkenborg (Junkie XL's real name) wanted to capture the energy of his live performances in this album, making it much more raw and energetic than it's predecessor Today from 2006. His newest work, released on Artwerk, will be presented to the Dutch crowd on the 26th March at the Melkweg in Amsterdam.
Junkie XL is not a man who likes to sit still. When he isn't working on a new album or gigging abroad, he is working on new movie or game soundtracks. The first single of this new album, More, already appeared in the latest edition of the Need For Speed series and the label Artwerk fits well within this new way of distribution. Read on >>>
