Nic Chagall reaches no.1 on Beatport

King of progressive trance beats Nic Chagall has reached the no. 1 position on Beatport with the remix release of ‘What You Need’.
After just being 2 days on sales, the Marco V remix of the single stormed to the number 1 position in Beatport’s Trance chart. Also the other mixes by Spanish producers D-Formation and Sergio Fernandez are finding there way into the homes of many.
The record is available on Beatport exclusive for 4 weeks and will be available afterwards on all other download portals.
For vinyl lovers, the good old black slice will be available from June 2nd.

Rank 1 mixes third edition of ‘High Contrast presents’ series

With the first two editions the High Contrast present series proved to be a successful concept, giving the artist a platform to showcase what his sound is all about.
After the first two editions mixed by Marcel Woods and Joop, High Contrast has asked one of the biggest names in Trance to compile the 3rd chapter.

It’s been more than 4 years since the last mix-cd by the mighty Rank 1 saw the light of day and so it was well about time for something new.
With this new CD Rank 1 have selected new, unreleased and exclusive material and of course the latest productions from Rank 1 their selves. Of course their latest chart breaking single together with Jochen Miller ‘And Then…’ is featured and furthermore you can find their sparkling new remix for Ronald van Gelderen forthcoming single ‘Embrace Me’.

To celebrate the release, a international tour will start to promote the album.

Tiësto and Coca-Cola collaborate for Beijing 2008 Olympics

As the world joins together for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games this summer, Coca-Cola has invited Tiësto to produce a track that properly expresses what the occasion means to him.

Tiësto had been provided with a theme and using his music as his form of expression, he created a song that expanded on his inspiration, drawn from the theme. The title of the track he created will be "Global Harmony".

The collaboration is based on the contribution of Chinese visual artist Xiao Xue who designed a new limited-edition Coca-Cola bottle. The graphic arts featured in the design, were then united with Tiësto's track, thus showing the basis of the concept: the possibilities that emerge when cultures of all parts of the world come together.

Both the artistic and cultural exchange of this first ever project resulted in a total of eight limited-edition aluminum contour bottles by the title "WE8", which refers to the collaboration between West and East around eight different themes.

The eight unique bottle designs, together with their respective music tracks are available for free download from the dedicated Coca-Cola homepage.

Lange joins Dance Therapy

Dance Therapy is proud to present one of the most influential dance artists of the past decade, DJ/Producer Lange, as a new artist on its roster.

Sharam to release debut solo album

Grammy Award nominated and Grammy Award winner, Sharam, returns with his first new material since last year’s Top 10 anthem, ‘P.A.T.T’. The Iranian-born, US based dance artist has announced that his debut solo album, ‘Sidedish’, will be released later this summer.

The album will feature one of the Miami buzz records ‘Get Wild’ and ‘The One’ featuring Daniel Bedingfield. Yes, the Daniel Bedingfield, the UK artist behind seminal bedroom-produced UK Garage classic ‘Gotta Get Thru This’ and latterly slushy Mum-pleasing money-spinning ballads such as 'If You’re Not The One'.

He is joined by a list of guest artist that sounds more like a Celebrity Big Brother producer’s wet dream including hip-hop clown P Diddy, Public Enemy legend Chuck D, deep house hero Nic Fancuilli and Pam’s ex, rock nutter Tommy Lee. The album also includes songs with long time Deep Dish collaborators Anousheh Khalili and Morel. If mothing else this can only be entertaining!

The album release date will be announced in due course.

‘The One’ featuring Daniel Bedingfield is released on Data Records on 14th July.

Loveland Festival 2008 Line-Up revealed

The rich nature and relaxed atmosphere of Amsterdam's Sloterpark will see another edition of the Loveland Festival the second of August this year.

Among the artists to line up are some very interesting names, such as 'the godfather of house' Frankie Knuckles and HipHop Maestro Grandmaster Flash.

As is the case each year, the festival's musical setup is very diverse. Alongside the likes of Felix Da Housecat, Sander Kleinenberg, and Tom Novy, the event will also host a myriad of live performances.

To give you a little taste of whats coming: Junkie XL, Dutch feel good band Leaf, and Ben Cullum vs Jamie Cullum will all perform live at the event.

DJ Magda's laptop is stolen

On Saturday 2nd May m_nus star Magda became the most recent high-profile DJ to fall victim to a laptop thieves.

In the aftermath of her gig at the Centrum Club in Erfurt, Germany, her laptop bag was stolen from the club's DJ booth - and with it went her laptop itself, plus her hard drive and headphones too.

Unfortunately, DJs being robbed after they play (or in the case of Vitalic back in 2005 at London's Cargo, even before his performance) is not a new phenomenon.

To an opportunistic thief a laptop probably looks like a nice easy steal; they're clearly not the moral type, let's be honest. The amount of work that's on the laptop is probably immaterial to them, but this incident has clearly affected Magda a great deal.

In a message to m_nus mailout-subscribers on Tuesday 6th May, Magda showed her dismay at the robbery with a personal plea. She explains, 'We as DJs and artists dedicate our entire energy and spirit to what we do. Read on >>>

Mystery Land 2008

On Saturday August 23rd the oldest dance-festival of Holland, Mystery Land, celebrates her 15th anniversary with an extra partyish edition. Mystery Land hosts acts as All is One, r_AW, Dirty Dutch, Ex Porn Star, GirlsLoveDJs, Rauw, Q-Dance and Stealth Records from Roger Sanchez. Tiësto’s In Search of Sunrise and Flamingo Nights of Fedde Le Grand will be there for the first time this year.
Also some new areas have been added such as HEY! (for the best of minimal techno) and Pussy Lounge. But also the Eclipse is back with no other than trance in the broadest way possible. To keep things easy the techno tent, which is the biggest covered space on the field, is simply called "De Techno" and the classics stage is ofcourse fully based on 15 years Mystery Land.

Mystery Land is the only festival where fans of all dance-styles can have a great day. Ever since 1993 the organisation tries to offer more than the best of music. The festival-area in Haarlemmermeer will undergo a metamorphosis from a beautiful park into a fabulous and colourful festival location.

The organisation has booked more artists than ever before to a countless amount of stages. On Wednesday May 21st the whole program of Mystery Land will be announced.

Ticket sales start on Saturday May 10th via TicketOnline.nl, 0900 - 300 6000 (45 cpm), FreeRecordShop, alle Ticketbox stores and the other usual sales addresses. Tickets costs € 59,50 ex fee. Due to last year's edition being sold out early, the organisation warns for websites and private induviduals selling false tickets.

DJ Shah - Songbook (Double Disc Album)

DJ Shah has announced the release of his upcoming album, 'Songbook'. Featuring 13 different vocalists from around the globe, 'Songbook' is being readied to drop in early June. The 2xCD album will feature vastly differing versions of the tracks. CD 1 will carry the full-fire dance-floor mixes spread across the trance, breakbeat and crossover ranges. Continuing the unique success of his geographically inspired mix compilations, Tiësto looks to explore yet another region by taking us to the Far East this time with In Search of Sunrise 7 – Asia.

In Search Of Sunrise 7 – Asia, which was mixed and recorded in Thailand, captures the peaceful and intensively passionate way of life together with the vigorous activity that Tiësto encountered during his tour through the region this spring. Intuition Recordings goes independent

2008 marks a magic moment for Intuition Recordings. After working in joint ventures with other labels for the past 3 years Menno de Jong has recently set up the label as an independent entity, making Intuition a future proof and expansion ready electronic powerhouse.

2004 saw the introduction of a brand new musical entity to the dance scene when Menno de Jong & Paul Moelands founded Intuition Recordings. The label is currently one of the top dogs in the Trance genre. After working with Fundamental Recordings and United Recordings for a total of 3 years, end of 2007 the decision was made to go completely independent.

As of the 1st of April 2008 Intuition headquarters are now located in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The currently three-headed operation has great plans for the future, that start off with 2 brand-new sub-labels to be launched just before the summer: Intuition Deep and Stellar Sounds. Whilst Intuition Recordings itself will maintain its focus on quality trance releases, Intuition Deep will take a trip into progressive and deep trance, whilst keeping the thought behind the global brand: ‘Follow your musical Intuition’.
Stellar Sounds is a whole different story. Space is a big place, and so the musical boundaries of this new sub-label will remain one of the mysteries of the universe. Intuition has introduced a nifty slogan though: ‘Sounds like it came from outer space!’ That combined with an ear for young talent provides the basic ingredients for the musical territory of Stellar Sounds. Global DJ & producer Paul van Dyk is confirmed to mix this years Cream Ibiza album forthcoming on New State Music on June 16th 2008.

Paul’s relationship with Cream and Ibiza spans more than 10 years and this years Cream Ibiza album is the first time Paul has committed to mix a Cream album.

Reflecting Paul’s legendary DJ sets at Amnesia, Cream’s spiritual Ibiza home, this album will see Paul mix the real sound of Ibiza over two CD’s taking in genres from minimal and electro to house, trance and techno but always maintaining the Paul van Dyk vibe.
